However since more than a few months I personally keep getting 'Avast Service (32bit)' to use 100% of disk usage. I have used AVAST for over ten years, read that it was the best around and recommended it to my friends, even installed paid versions in the companies where I implemented security. Is it the AvastSvc.exe function that is consuming 100% CPU activity ? Some others have reported high CPU activity in recent versions, I don't know if yours is directly related. That said 2, I have rolled back to (only on my winXP system) because of a CPU Spike by AvastSvc.exe (the main avast service), that got up to 50% or a little higher and the only resolution was a reboot. That said I don't believe it should be consuming anything close to 100%. I just wonder if the Behaviour Shield might get involved being an offshoot of the File System Shield even though you say it isn't installed. This I do believe will trigger a scan as effectively avast would see a file being written to disk/loaded and scan it. When windows resumes from standby/hibernation, it is likely files/data loaded from the hiberfil.sys file are resumed into memory and or disk. Since you don't have the latest avast version, I would suggest that your first action would be to get the latest version and see if it is still an issue.Ģ.
